"Quality Americana, Folk and What We Used to Call 'Bedsit Music' " The Rocking Magpie, UK
Since 1992, Lee Hunter, has been placing her own stamp on folk/roots music. Dirty Linen Magazine described her former duo, Tammerlin, as “captivating” and “one of the best kept secrets in America”. Although Tammerlin disbanded in 2014, Lee has continued to perform and create the music that garnered praise from critics world-wide. What you’ll hear are inventive approaches to a mix of well-crafted original songs and traditional tunes pulled from the heart of American music –– always aiming to convey her passion for a story. Since 2015, she has been working with outstanding guitarist and award-winning songwriter, Joey Kerr, a duo collaboration that is growing and flourishing. In addition, to concert performances, Lee and Joey offer an educational program for students of all ages. Lee. along with Joey, released Lee's eighth CD recording in October 2022. It's a full band effort called Lee Hunter and the Gatherers, "Between Nothing and All". Most of the songs are Lee's with a few fun covers and a traditional tune. The core band is Lee, Joey Kerr, Darren Ronan on drums, Ernie Ealum on bass and Walter Mingledorf on organ and piano. There are a few special guests on the album, too: Byron House, Joe Craven, Joe Newberry, Lis Williamson, Lon Williamson and Nathan Ealum. Civil War & Seafaring Songs This wonderful concert mixes songs and readings from the Civil War period with traditional and contemporary seafaring songs. EDUCATIONAL/CULTURAL OUTREACH
Lee Hunter offers educational programming for student groups of all ages. She was selected to be a member of the artist roster for the Florida State Touring Program from 1997 to 2014, Lee has performed concerts for thousands of students, and she continues to offer these performances and workshops along with guitarist, Joey Kerr.
