"Gentle shimmers of rootsy Americana. . . . " FROOTS Magazine, UK
Since 1992, Lee Hunter, as one half of the critically acclaimed duo, Tammerlin, has been placing her own stamp on folk/roots music. Dirty Linen Magazine described the duo as “captivating” and “one of the best kept secrets in America”. Although Tammerlin disbanded in 2014, Lee has continued to perform and create the music that garnered praise from critics world-wide. What you’ll hear are inventive approaches to a mix of well-crafted original songs and traditional tunes pulled from the heart of American music –– always aiming to convey her passion for a story. In pursuing her own musical path, Lee is building on the sonic history of Tammerlin while exploring new directions and partnering with a number of talented musicians. Most recently she created a chamber work of music and spoken word for a performance at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens in Jacksonville, FL., the result of which was a CD recording of the project. She and Walter Parks, longtime guitarist for Richie Havens and a fine songwriter and solo performer, were asked to open a series of shows for Emmylou Harris in 2015. They plan to continue to collaborate from time to time. She is also working with outstanding guitarist and award-winning songwriter, Joey Kerr. In addition, Lee and Joey offer an educational program for students of all ages. From time to time, you may see Lee and Joey performing with her 6-piece band, Lee Hunter and the Gatherers. With six CD releases and decades of touring to her credit, Lee has collaborated in the studio with exceptional musicians including Darol Anger, Joe Craven, Byron House and Longineu Parsons, and has shared the stage with Doc Watson, Emmylou Harris, Alex DeGrassi, Del McCoury, The Band and many more. |
